Retired Shakespeare scholar and professor, Michael W. Shurgot has found a new love of historical westerns, and just published his third novel in this genre in October, 2024: Seotse: A Visionary Tale.

Born in Buffalo, New York in 1943, I claim ancestors from four European nationalities. I earned my PhD in 1977 and have taught at University of Texas and Seattle University, and retired in 2006 as Professor of Humanities from South Puget Sound Community College .

I continue to teach literature in Seattle in a program for mature adults. I have written three books on Shakespeare, a memoire, and three western novels: Green River Saga (April 2020); its sequel, Raven Mountain: A Mythic Tale (2023); and Seotse: A Visionary Tale (2024), all published by Sunstone Press in Santa Fe, NM.
